The task at hand presented a challenge and a volume opportunity now and tomorrow. The ask was defined to beat the pack (competitor banks) by being the first bank to collaborate with PayShap on scale to build a strong association and receive recognition as the bank that gave Mzansi number-to-number payments to make things easier for all people and small businesses, informal and formal.

The real objective was to drive uptake and engagement with African Bank by positioning African Bank as the lead partner of PayShao, drive African Bank entry account uptake by motivating them to open an additional account with no debit, and introduce Mzansi to number-to-number payments facilitated by African Bank, and communicate the compelling difference to the P2P leader (eWallet). The collaboration campaign also included a digital competition where we ran a giveaway to stand a chance to win a Suzuki Swift upon signing up and using PayShap with African Bank.
